Melaka Overview
Encompassing an area of 658 sq. km, Melaka or previously known as 'Melaka' is one of the thirteen states belong to Malaysia. Melaka, known as the historical city of Malaysia, is situated on the western coast of the Peninsular. Its neighboring states are Negeri Sembilan on the north and Johor on the south. It is only about 129km south of Kuala Lumpur. Melaka is a land of many sights and attractions, rich in color and contrasts. Her multi-racial populations live and work in harmony as one people, yet preserving at all times the traditions and cultures unique to each race.
The colorful cultural aspects are evident in the games people play, in the exotic food they prepare, in the many art forms and pastimes, in the glorious festivals that are reverently looked forward to and indeed in the many facets of their lifestyles.
So rich and fascinating are the cultures that volumes have been written about them. Visitors to Melaka are often awe-inspired by the sheer fascination of the multi-faceted cultures of its people; the Malays, Chinese, Indians, Baba-Nyonya, Portuguese and Chitty.
Multimedia University (Melaka Campus) is a twin sister campus which is strategically located in the vicinity of serene residential areas, booming industrial sites and the scenic Ayer Keroh tourists’ spots. It houses the Centre for Foundation Studies and Extension Education and three Faculties: Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Information Science and Technology and Faculty of Business and Law.
